The CCIB reaches 1,500 events hosted in 15 years

On November 1, 2004, the International Convention Center of Barcelona (CCIB) officially started its activity. He did it under the management of the French company GL Events, one of the world leaders in the events organization. Earlier, GL already worked from Barcelona in attracting new clients that, when the Universal Forum of Cultures were finished, would begin to occupy the venue to hold congresses, conventions, fairs … And that was the case. On November 2, 2004, the first 300 congressmen arrived for a European event on energy. In only two months of activity in that 2004, the CCIB hosted 30 events with a cumulative attendance of 60,000 people.

Since then, the activity has not stopped growing and now the CCIB has just arrived at the 1,500 events hosted! The figure coincides with the center’s 15th anniversary. In these years, it has received 6.8 million people with an economic impact on Barcelona of 4,500 million euros.

The 1,500 event arrives with the celebration of the WConnecta 2019, the biggest networking event on road freight transport in Europe that takes place on October 18. Directed to professionals in this sector, it is one of the more than 100 events that CCIB will host this year. The Forum’s congress center is one of the largest in southern Europe and has hosted since its beginnings large international medical, scientific, related to information technologies (IT), institutional, social or concerts, among the main types of events.

And there is still a lot of agenda for this 2019 with about twenty events, such as the eighth edition of the Gartner ITxpo Symposium in November -one of the largest IT analyst meetings with more than 9,000 delegates- or the World Mammal Conference Marins (WMMC) in December, as well as shows like the symphonic concert of Assassin’s Creed.
