Do you know that in 2017 the CCIB broke its record in events?
“A good year”. Everybody agrees in qualifying 2017 as a positive 12 months period that, in addition, marks a very optimistic trend for the future. The data support this: the 122 events held last year in the CCIB exceeded, by distance, the 112 of 2016 and even the 113 of 2014 (the historic maximum until then). Turnover was also on the upward trend of recent years and repeat events have already become more than half of the clients, which shows high satisfaction and ensures a recurring activity.
Certainly, one of the protagonists of the year was the success of Gartner Itxpo Symposium, with 9,500 attendees (17% more than in 2016), surpassing all forecasts and becoming the largest convention hosted by the venue since its opening. Also in the corporate market (which concentrates practically 40% of the business) standed out KingfoMarket (1,600 attendees), CineEurope (2,000 attendees and 113 exhibitors in its sixth consecutive edition at the CCIB), Eurofinance (2,100 attendees) and the European launch of a new line of BMW cars.
In the congress area (22% of the business), the CCIB is a benchmark for major international medical and scientific appointments. During 2017, ECCO (6,300 experts in Digestology), ESOT (3,500 experts in transplants), ICN (8,000 experts in Nursing) and Euretina (4,900 experts in Ophthalmology) were the congresses with the highest number of registrations.
Tradeshows such as Advanced Factories (9,000 attendees), Architect@Work (2,300 attendees), Security Forum (6,700 attendees), InteriHotel (4,500 attendees) or Magic International (9,000 attendees) chose the CCIB multi-purpose room for its versatility and flexibility. At the same time, the main musical programmers of the cultural scene opted for the Forum Auditorium. The balance: 16 hosted shows (Miguel Bosé, Ara Malikian, Diana Krall and Sweet California, among others) and the Gaudí Awards ceremony.
Satisfaction and quality, the key
This record demonstrates the evident proof of the consolidation of a successful management model, clearly oriented towards service and client satisfaction, but at the same time firmly committed to respecting the environment and improving the society. A good example of this business practices are the two awards received in 2017. On the one hand, the Gold M&IT Award for Best Overseas Conference Centre, awarded for the first time to a Spanish center by British professionals, which is added to silver and bronze obtained in previous editions. On the other hand, the Barcelona Sustainable Tourism award for Best Practices in Social Sustainability, awarded by Turisme de Barcelona on the occasion of the first edition of these awards, for the CCIB’s support of the children’s football project and youth, inclusive, multicultural and values that the Trinijove Foundation is developing.
Without any doubt, 2017 was an amazing year!
