A “clandestine club”, the summer meeting point
On July 13, more than 600 people among which company managers, institutions and organizations of different nature gathered at the Banquet Hall of the CCIB, one of the most beautiful and indicated spaces for the hot summer nights in Barcelona. The eighth edition of the Sunset Party brought together the very best of the economic and institutional fabric to spend a relaxed evening among friends and colleagues.
The invitation to this massive afterwork already foreshadowed that; once again, something different would surprise us. Printed on crumpled paper dated 1920, The CCIB Daily Mail announced some of the highlights of the happy twenties, a decade marked in the United States by economic prosperity (prior to the crack of 29). Thanks to the cinema, we quickly identify the image that best brings us at that time: lively leisure establishments in a Chicago plenty of sequins, the Prohibition era, gangsters and the rise of jazz.
A card chosen at random opened the doors to a world of brick walls, old motor cars, hats and headdresses, live music and a gastronomic selection eminently “made in the USA”. Dishes of Italian-American inspiration, the best-roasted meat, famous sweets and cakes (cheese cake, Red Velvet or carrot cake)… In addition, everywhere there were Jack Daniel’s bottles in a mini size to be camouflaged in case of a raid.
An informal soirée for networking
Beyond the themes that characterizes it, the Sunset Party of the CCIB turns, year after year, into an undisputed meeting point to end the season and welcome summer. It helps us regain strength for a new season that will carry a lot of activity in the MICE industry. That was the general feeling perceived in the small groups and it is confirmed by the statistics.
Were you at the party? Shhht… We will tell nobody…
